Welcome
to Sartell's Home of Crime Prevention The department's mission is to provide a secure and safe environment for families to live in and for business to prosper in. We are a community-policing-based agency.
What is Community Policing? Community policing focuses on crime and social disorder through the delivery of police services that includes aspects of traditional law enforcement, as well as prevention, problem-solving, community engagement, and partnerships. The community policing balances reactive responses to calls for service with proactive problem-solving centered on the causes of crime and disorder. Community policing requires police and citizens to join together as partners in the course of both identifying and effectively addressing these issues. The Sartell Police Department relishes its role as keepers of the peace in our community. The members of our department strive to be professional in their performance and committed to their duties.
The police department reported taking calls for service or documenting incidents on 9,495 occasions in 2006, 10,429 in 2007 and 9,357 in 2008. These incidents range from barking dog calls and traffic violations to drug crimes and assaults. Although the amount of calls for service to the police department has increased yearly, the more severe crimes such as those listed below remain steady or have declined. These crimes are called 'reportable' crimes because all law enforcement agencies are required to provide those statistics to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. These statistics are used to provide information on the national crime trend throughout the United States. If you wish to contact us you may do so by calling (320) 251-8186 or e-mail us at publicsafety@sartellmn.com. Our physical address is 310 2nd St. S and our mailing address is PO Box 334, Sartell, MN 56377. Due to budgetary constraints we are unable to trade or sell patches to other police departments or members of the public that may have a patch collection.
Due to budgetary constraints and staffing vacancy, not all of the programs previously offered by the police department are currently available. Please contact the police department at 320-251-8186 during regular business hours if you have questions about specific programs and their availability.
